OS X (and Windows) don’t allow filenames that differ only in case. OS X is littered with directories like Documents and Sites and Libraries.
Put this in your .inputrc:
set completion-ignore-case on
Fire up a shell. “cd mus”+tab becomes “cd Music” automagically. Celebration.

I suspect that MacOS X can be case-sensitive, depending on the underlying filesystem. The default MacOS filesystem isn’t case-sensitive.
